Memphis Grizzlies History
As the Vancouver Grizzlies, the team joined the NBA in 1995 along with the Toronto Raptors as the league expanded to Canada. The Grizzlies’ early struggles — six consecutive seasons with no more than 23 victories — hurt attendance. Ownership found open arms in Memphis, and moved the franchise there in 2001.
The first year in Memphis, they acquired forward Pau Gasol, who would go on to win NBA Rookie of the Year and become the franchise's first All-Star and. In 2002, the Grizzlies brought on Jerry West as general manager, and the franchise reversed course. In the 2003–04 season, they posted a winning record, making the playoffs for the first of three consecutive seasons.
A four-year absence followed, but sparked by Zach Randolph, Tony Allen, Marc Gasol, and Mike Conley, and helmed by coach Lionel Hollins, the Grizzlies returned to the playoffs in the 2010–11 season, upsetting the San Antonio Spurs in the first round before losing to the Oklahoma City Thunder in seven games in the conference semifinals. It was the first of seven consecutive playoff appearances for the “Grit and Grind” Grizzlies.
The 2019–20 season saw the Grizzlies draft Ja Morant, would would win Rookie of the Year, and one season later the team finished with a winning record (38-34) and won two play-in games to clinch the eighth seed in the Western Conference. Following the 2022–23 season, power forward Jaren Jackson Jr. won the Defensive Player of the Year Award. Jackson Jr. and Morant have been selected as All-Stars twice.

Memphis Grizzlies at FedExForum
The Grizzlies have called FedExForum(Opens in new tab) home since 2004, three years after the franchise relocated to Memphis from Vancouver. Those first three seasons, the Grizzlies played in the Memphis Pyramid, but the landmark venue needed costly upgrades to meet NBA standards. Construction of a $250 million arena was found to be more feasible.
The dome-shaped venue on Memphis' historic Beale Street pays homage to the city's rich music history, boasting murals, photographs and themed restaurants and clubs throughout. FedExForum has undergone several renovations since its initial construction, including a state-of-the-art, high-definition scoreboard and video screen installed in 2017. The arena was also the first in the NBA to have "see-through" shot clocks, so fans’ views of the court were not obstructed.

I had a great time at the playin game. The crowd energy was high.
Great time! My son was able to get an autograph from the visiting team and we had fantastic seats! Will return!
Loved watching the game. But the music was coarse and loud, and the Grizz girls’ dancing was very unattractive. What about a little more decorum and variety in music style and volume?
When tickets were ordered we ordered a certain section which was accessible seating. Some how the tickets never downloaded to my phone and we had to go the day before to try to straighten it out. We were told we had the section we wanted and it turned out to not be what we paid for when we got to the game.
Very boring arena to walk around so make sure to get yourself a good seat for whatever you're watching so you can at least enjoy the game/show.
Attending a Memphis Grizzlies game is always a highlight of my season! I make it to 15+ home games each year, and each experience feels unique and special. The atmosphere is electric, filled with energy that truly embodies the culture of Memphis. The entertainment between quarters and the music keep the crowd engaged and excited from start to finish. I’ve noticed improvements in the food options, which is a nice touch, and the sound system seems to have been upgraded too—it’s been amazing these first two games! The staff are consistently friendly and helpful, ensuring everything goes smoothly. Zero complaints here! Already looking forward to the Halloween game! Go Grizz!
Love going to the grizzlies eating food and watching love going to the grizzlies they are the best
I enjoyed my experience with Ticketmaster and I enjoyed the Memphis Grizzlies game! We savored the hype scene as we were on Beale street. No fussing or fighting just great times. Even though we missed a few of our favorite players, we just wanted to be there to show support. The players were awesome, the fans were lit, and well, I stay Ready! We enjoyed ourselves! “I deserve to have fun!” I luv y’all! Ja’ we love ya babe!
Came to Memphis to celebrate my birthday and took our boys to the game with us. It was a nail biter down to the last couple seconds. We really enjoyed ourselves and can’t wait to come back.
The Grizzlies while playing without most of their starters managed to win against the Milwaukee Bucks in a huge upset. Grizzlies Management if you are listening, please keep these guys who played so hard for you. We need good three point shooting, and these Grizzlies delivered. Great game indeed!
