About

Toad the Wet Sprocket, the beloved alternative rock band from Santa Barbara, California, first captured audiences in the late 1980s with their heartfelt lyrics and melodic sound. Rising to prominence with albums like Fear (1991) and Dulcinea (1994), they became known for hits such as "Walk on the Ocean," "All I Want," and "Good Intentions." Their ability to blend introspective songwriting with catchy, folk-influenced rock has cemented them as a lasting presence in the music world.

Throughout their career, Toad the Wet Sprocket has maintained a deep appreciation for their dedicated fanbase, whose unwavering support has allowed them to continue making music on their own terms. Whether through live performances, new recordings, or reimagining classic tracks, the band remains committed to delivering music that resonates with longtime listeners and new audiences alike. Their connection with fans is at the heart of everything they do, making every tour and release a shared experience.

In 2025, Toad the Wet Sprocket will be on the road once again with their Good Intentions headline tour, joined by Semisonic, KT Tunstall and Six Pence Non the Richer, bringing their signature sound to audiences across the country. In addition, they are putting the finishing touches on an acoustic greatest hits album, set for release later this year.

  • Always great

I saw Taos two years ago and their show has gotten so much better since they toured with the Bare Naked Ladies. I love that Glen now shares the singing and the drum duet was amazing! Always a great show, but now it's so much better!

  • Great concert, packed like sardines

If we weren't so close to each other on the floor it would have been easier to enjoy the band.

  • JR Richards and Toad the Wet Sprocket at The Sound

by Spartan on 7/22/24The Sound - Del MarRating: 5 out of 5

First off, The Sound is officially now my favorite music venue in San Diego county. This place is built for acoustic effect. Great sound anywhere in the venue, great seats and plenty of space between rows to let people pass (unlike Humphreys). JR Richards opened as a solo performer, guitar, keyboard and loop. Started with his version of Hallelujah which was unexpected but performed flawlessly. He also did songs from his Dishwalla days and a cover of U2 "With or Without You", which was impressive as hell. Dude has pipes! Toad the Wet Sprocket followed with a full set spanning much of their catalog, with more from "FEAR"obviously due to it's popularity. We really enjoyed the upbeat theme of the show and the seamless subtle blending of rhythm and lead guitars. Their harmonizing is especially amazing to witness after so many years away from the stage. The venue might have a lot to do with it, but the mix, volume and bandwidth of the sound was phenomenal. There were a couple of minor hiccups almost unnoticed like the accordion mike was too far back in the sound much of the time, but I wonder if that was just part of the subtlety they want to get you to focus. Anyway - Great Show Guys! Come again!

  • Just What was Expected

by SDCharleston on 7/21/24The Sound - Del MarRating: 5 out of 5

A terrific intimate night of one of the best songwriters in my lifetime. Toad won’t blow your socks off musically, but they do plenty to make it worthwhile to hear their music live. If you’re a fan, their words affect you, so definitely go. I haven’t regretted it yet.

  • Stellar tour opener!

    by digDoug411 on 7/20/24The Sound - Del MarRating: 5 out of 5

Absolutely fabulous set by TTWS to open their tour! Long-time fan, first time seeing them live, and they brought the jams! The venue was awesome too—beautiful modern club, great lighting and sound. “The Sound” lived up to its name—you could really hear and enjoy all the intricacies and depth of the TTWS arrangements—even the accordion! Rex Starman would have been proud!

  • Simply Fantastic

The band sounded incredible, even with our show being the first on the tour, they were on point and really fun to watch.

  • Exceeded all expectations

by MummyVonFrankenstein on 7/20/24The Sound - Del MarRating: 5 out of 5

The Sound is a beautiful venue. The perfect place to enjoy great bands. Toad the Wet Sprocket sounded even more incredible than I’ve ever heard them. They were one of my bucket list bands and their music made my heart happy. Glen Phillips voice & acoustic guitar were so beautiful and made it a show I’ll never forget! I can’t wait to see them next year!!!

  • Best show ever!!

by Becky on 12/6/23The Sound - Del MarRating: 5 out of 5

I saw Toad the Wet Sprocket when I was 13 years old, and almost 30 years later, I got to see them again. They BLEW me away!!! I had been to two other shows from my youth in the last year which were extremely disappointing (one lead singer showed up drunk and obviously didn't want to be there, and the other displayed his gigantic ego by playing the music way too loud, not recognizing his band, and using his concert to spread his own political agenda). Toad the Wet Sprocket renewed my faith in live music again! Every band member showed up 100%, sober and obviously wanting to be there. They had great energy, and Glen Philips, the lead singer, gave each and every band member a chance to shine. I will absolutely be attending every one of their shows that comes through town from here on out.

  • Great Band, Great Show

by Dave on 10/16/23Old National Centre - IndianapolisRating: 5 out of 5

Awesome show from an old favorite. They sounded great and kept the audience on their feet and singing along. Can't wait to see them next time they are in town.
