The Commodores are one of the most iconic funk and soul bands to ever bust a groove, riding the rhythm section since 1968 and remaining musical innovators to this day. In concert, Walter Orange, William “WAK” King and J.D. Nicholas take audiences on a tour through the roots of funky soul. "Machine Gun," a grooving instrumental from their debut album, feels as fresh today as the day the tracks were laid down. Orange’s instantly recognizable voice reminds everyone that she's a "Brick House," one of the band's most recognizable hit singles.
The Commodores first met at Tuskegee Institute in Alabama. Four years later, they were signed to Motown Records after opening on tour for the Jackson 5. They focused on their own unique brand of Southern funk, rising to the top with chart-toppers including “Slippery When Wet” and “Just to Be Close to You.” Now, backed by their five-piece band, The Mean Machine, The Commodores share their unique vocal stylings through even more of their number one hits, including “Three Times a Lady” and “Still,” two more of their seven songs that have topped the US R&B charts. “Nightshift” also garnered the band a Grammy award. From a performing point of view, Orange, King and Nicholas simply can’t be slowed down. They know they have soul. They were 2003 inductees in the Vocal Group Hall of Fame, and have earned an American Music Award. More than anything, however, The Commodores leave it all on stage every time they play, because they know that they are able to write their own ticket through their music.
Great show, brought back wonderful memories!! Remembering the 60’s, 70’s…a must see concert!!
It was great seeing the old school music being represented.
The Commondores lyrics sounded the same as their music back in the day. I don't believe they could have given the audience a better show. The crowd was rocking the house. Everyone including myself sung and danced throughout the Commodores stage event. My guest and I enjoyed the amazing entertainment. I would definitely attend another concert when they appear in town.
It was great had an awesome time can’t wait for the next one
The pbs filming really ruined the interaction of the band with the crowd. The band itself was amazing!
Disappointed in the Commodores. Not what I expected. Too much talk not enough music. Lead singer was hard to hear.
My Grandson loves the Commodores and so for his birthday I bought 2 tickets. I also was told (after 3 days of trying to contact someone who understood what I was saying) I was told my Grandson could go to the concert but there was a 10 o’clock curfew and that was when the concert was over so I bought the tickets ( 2nd row)! The day of the concert I got an email stating this concert was a 21 & over concert! I tried for 3 hours to get a hold of somebody who could verify the rules had now changed! I finally spoke to someone but they were out of the country, barely spoke English and said they weren’t sure what the ages could attend the concert. I live in Hollywood, we were so excited to attend this concert but couldn’t take a chance my Grandson wouldn’t be able enter. We love the Commodores! This review has nothing to do with them. This review is about nobody able to answer questions for people who are calling with important questions about their venue. The people who are answering are in another country and are clueless about the venue. At Buffalo bills Nobody was available, I just kept getting VMs and nobody would call back. So if you plan on attending a concert there and are taking anyone under the age of 21, good luck.
I didn't stay up late enough to see the Commafores but I really loved The Pointer Sisters!!
Personally, Pointer Sisters number one, The Spinners number two with the Commodors at number three. Every one was singing and dancing for the entire show. Pointer Sisters win all the way! Had a great time other than the people in the front row who thought they were the "main event".
Spinners and Commodores were terrific. Pointer Sisters were mediocre. Only Ruth is left backed by terrible musicians.
