About

Home Free on Tour

Though Home Free are primarily considered a country group, the quintet's concerts are quite a bit more. First and foremost, they're a vocal act in the a cappella tradition, which means they know how to make five voices sound like a full band even without any instruments on the stage. They pull off this impressive achievement by incorporating lush harmonies, beatboxing and vocal counterpoint that harkens back to doo-wop and barbershop. While recent years have found Home Free moving toward a more country-based sound, with a repertoire that includes the likes of Vince Gill, Blake Shelton and Maren Morris, they also venture into plenty of other areas when they perform live. A cappella versions of tunes made famous by Ed Sheeran, Shakira or The O'Jays are just as likely to enter their performance repertoire.

Home Free in Concert

The a cappella phenomenon known as Home Free came into being in Mankato, Minnesota, in 2000 when five young men, including brothers Adam and Chris Rupp, joined their voices together for the first time. Their repertoire was all over the map, including country, pop, soul and rock 'n' roll. The group eventually hit the road hard, and began releasing albums on their own label in 2007 starting with From the Top. But things changed in a big way for Home Free when they won the TV competition show The Sing-Off in 2013. By that time they'd become more country-oriented, and after earning a record deal with Sony/Columbia their albums started regularly entering the upper rungs of country charts. Several personnel changes occurred over the years, the biggest when Chris Rupp departed in 2016, but in their current incarnation Home Free still bring the a cappella magic to the stage every time.

  • I would've paid double what I paid to see them

by RyanJRussell on 4/15/25Ameristar Casino and Hotel - Kansas CityRating: 5 out of 5

I've been following Home Free for years but never had the opportunity to go to a concert. I've enjoyed all their music videos and listening to them. The live experience with them is by far better than the live experience with other performers Ive seen. Their interaction with the audience is amazing. They really let their personalities show, and it was just an amazing performance. If you are reading this, wondering if it's worth it to go, because you can just listen to them on Amazon, or YouTube or whatever. Stop right there, just go because their live performance is that good! you can thank me later

The Home Free show in Kansas City on April 12 was wonderful. These gentlemen are very personable and show they love their work. I get very excited when they are in my area and get tickets to see them. I've only been to about 8 concerts and have enjoyed every one. I wish them the best in the future, both in their group concerts and those who are making their own music. Keep on singing and making videos.

  • The sound system

by Older Fan on 4/15/25Ameristar Casino and Hotel - Kansas CityRating: 3 out of 5

Home Free is a very good group of singers known for their harmonies. The bass was so loud you could not hear the rest of the singers. I thought they would adjust everything after the first song but they didn’t. Was very disappointed on the concert.

  • Great experience; worth the trip and cost

On time start, continuous program, great music, and engaged the audience with friendly/relaxed/playful conversations.

  • Disappointing

We were hoping to enjoy some Christmas ACappela music of which there was very little in this concert. We love HomeFree music and there harmony. What they do with their voices is amazing however we were hoping to hear more of that. The difficulty of “beatboxing “ is amazing and we enjoy hearing it but there was way too much in this show. Also too short for $ paid.

The Home Free concert in Nashville IN was phenomenal and magical! From the surprise opening act Ernie Halter to the very last note Home Free sang, it was perfection. Some surprises along the way (forgotten lyrics on Grinch, 😂, surprise visit by a spouse, ❤️) and it just made it all the more special and all the love from the fans to the guys was spectacular! Seemed like the security was a little over the top, don't know why, but it did not affect the excitement from everyone and spirits were high! Wonderful!
