About

Formed in New Delhi around 2010 by Suryakant Sawhney, Peter Cat Recording Co. is a group that’s mutated over time, shedding members and accruing more, always evolving musically with each album: from gypsy jazz to psychedelic cabaret; ballroom waltzes to epic space disco; bossa supernova to uneasy listening.

The story of Peter Cat Recording Co. has unfolded across multiple continents, a cast of creators and perhaps more than anything, an unwavering vision to be that band from India that will challenge just what music from the region can be. In expanding their listener base to North America, Europe and more, they have succeeded in broadening their audience and reformatting expectations, all while acting as an incubator of sorts for a rich palette of solo projects, a distinct visual language, and perhaps more than anything, a canonical reference point to both Indian and international fans alike: there is tremendous value in persistence and not pandering to the expectations of others.

  • Great venue and even better band

by JL on 10/6/24Fox Theater - Oakland - OaklandRating: 5 out of 5

The Fox was a great venue. I loved all the old architecture and details. The ban was incredible, so talented and seemed like they were having a good time. Their lights were very cool and kept me visually entertained but they did blind me a few time.

  • One of the best concerts I have been to

  • Great show but

by Wanda on 10/1/24The Wiltern - Los AngelesRating: 4 out of 5

It would've been good to know when the band would start. They started an hour and a half after doors opened. Ticket showed the show started at 7:30, which it didn't. It would've been nice to have more time to get food prior to the show. Other than that, the show was amazing. Lights were a bit odd but overall good.

  • Amazing show!

by Durazno on 9/26/24The Echo Lounge & Music Hall - DallasRating: 5 out of 5

House of Blues was a really nice venue, Peter Cat Recording Co. was the best concert I've ever been to.

  • Very eclectic, nice blend of voice and instruments

by Kris on 9/23/24House of Blues Houston - HoustonRating: 5 out of 5

We really enjoyed Peter Cat. Great blend of voice and instruments, and nice variety of music. Seemed to be a blend of Sting-like and Floyd-like music, but original. Great venue.

  • Unforgettable

    by S.C. on 9/16/249:30 CLUB - WashingtonRating: 5 out of 5

An incredible, surreal, and immersive concert. Loved seeing them up close at the 930 Club. PCRC is truly a one of a kind band!! Fan for life over here

  • A TRIP of a performance

by Nicole on 9/11/24Theatre of Living Arts - PhiladelphiaRating: 5 out of 5

PCRC was everything I expected and more. This show took you on a trip and made me smile, tear up, dance and feel a flight of emotions with each song they played. This band is known as "genre-less"and it really was that type of show. A complete vibe-switch with every new song but the band was confident in the music they were sharing. A wonderful mix of old and new tracks. Our front man held it downnnn and his talented band was given opportunities to shine as well. This is a top 5 show for me and I cannot wait to see them again.

  • Amazing Show!

  • Great Show

by In the Audience on 9/10/24Citizens House of Blues Boston - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

Peter Cat was great but the venue could have done a better job with lighting and sound. The show was way too loud and the vocals muddy and overshadowed by the other instruments, particularly the drums. The sound should have been definitely been better balanced. The lighting was distracting at times and overwhelmed the band and audience. At times the strobe lights shined directly in our faces and for far too long. The venue did a great job with security and basically everything else. The staff was friendly and efficient.
