About

Watchhouse, the North Carolina based duo of Andrew Marlin & Emily Frantz, have announced a new studio album called Rituals, due out May 30, 2025 via Tiptoe Tiger Music / Thirty Tigers. The collection marks the pair's first release of all new, original songs since their 2021 self-titled album, which earned praise from Rolling Stone ("pristine acoustic picking collides with hazy, dream-like psychedelia") Mojo, NPR Music, American Songwriter and more.

Starting over a decade ago playing coffee shops and local restaurants around North Carolina, Watchhouse is a grassroots success story that's been driven by Marlin's poignant songwriting. With sold-out shows at legendary venues like Red Rocks and the Ryman Auditorium, and hundreds of millions of streams, they've earned a reputation for creating music that "redefines roots music for a younger generation" (Washington Post). The duo - now with a family of their own - are two singers and musicians with profound chemistry, performing earnest yet masterfully crafted songs that encompass the unknowable mysteries, existential heartbreak, and communal joys of modern life. The forthcoming album is no exception.

  • Pleasantly surprised

by Mel on 12/11/23Bijou Theatre - KnoxvilleRating: 4 out of 5

I was blown away by Alison deGroot and Tatiana Hargreaves!!! I was completely mesmerized by their skills and how well they played together. Watch house started off a bit slow for me but I enjoyed their music the more I heard and listened to the lyrics.

  • Remarkable Musicians and Songwriters

by Phil on 12/8/23Bijou Theatre - KnoxvilleRating: 5 out of 5

We follow Watchhhouse whenever they are playing in our area. Andrew and Emily are remarkable song writers and musicians. Plus, their band (when playing with a full band) have two members from the Knoxville area that we have enjoyed for years as solo acts and with other Americana bands. This is the type of quality entertainment that fits well with the Bijou without the audience standing up for the entire show. We will definitely support them for future shows at the Bijou if available.

  • Lethal lighting

    by J Nelson on 12/6/23Bijou Theatre - KnoxvilleRating: 4 out of 5

The concert was great except for one thing. We sat in the balcony and the LED stage lights were blinding. I had to hold my hand up to block them. Otherwise I could not see the band at all.

  • Great show in great venue

    by C.Vaughn on 12/5/23Bijou Theatre - KnoxvilleRating: 5 out of 5

Our first time at a show at the Bijou did not disappoint! Watchhouse was as amazing as we had anticipated! It was such an enjoyable evening from beginning to end, with all the favorites and some wonderful additions, new to our ears. I was already a fan, but I now have a greater appreciation for just how talented Andrew & Emily truely are! Wonderful show wonderful evening!

  • Sooooo good

Rich sound, good humor, some of our favorite songs over both nights of the weekend… Our high expectations were surpassed!

  • A Great Band in a Great Venue

by DJB on 12/5/23Bijou Theatre - KnoxvilleRating: 5 out of 5

My thanks to Watchhouse and the Bijou for making this two-night event possible. The opening night Duo set was true to form and suitably intimate, focusing on the most recent album but dipping into earlier favorites and even a nice surprise at the end. The second night Quatro set was a real treat with Knoxville's best talent joining Andrew and Emily for another intimate and sweeping set. You cannot imagine a venue with better acoustics, size, and overall audience vibe for this talented group than the Bijou. What a treat!

  • WatchHouse (Knoxville; Dec 2)

by Dave on 12/5/23Bijou Theatre - KnoxvilleRating: 5 out of 5

The show was outstanding. Great venue, very comfortable with excellent acoustics! The only thing that was very strange was the holding onto the tickets until 24 hours in advance of the show. This was a bit of a an inconvenience, but we got past it.

  • They.were.so.good.

by jg on 12/5/23Bijou Theatre - KnoxvilleRating: 5 out of 5

Absolutely, do not miss an opportunity to see 'em. They were so good and the venue, Bijou Knoxville, could not have been better.

  • Go check them out!

by Jason on 12/4/23Bijou Theatre - KnoxvilleRating: 5 out of 5

This is a great band to see for a chill evening or date night. Andrew and Emily are a fantastic duo (and couple) who write and perform amazing and heartfelt music on the mandolin, fiddle, and rhythm guitar. If you catch a full band set, it's a whole different experience but equally as powerful. I've seen them numerous times and each performance is unique. Check them out! They are quite charismatic as well.
