About

Forming in 2000 on Long Island, New York, Brand New is an alternative-punk band consisting of Jesse Lacey on vocals and guitars, Vincent Accardi on guitars and vocals, Garrett Tierney on bass, and Brian Lane on drums. They signed to Triple Crown Records and released their debut album Your Favorite Weapon in 2001, full of emotional angst and ex-girlfriend tales, before touring with the emo Dashboard Confessional, post-hardcore acts Finch and Glassjaw, alt-rock Midtown, and pop-punk bands New Found Glory and Taking Back Sunday. Their sophomore album Deja Entendu came out in 2003, featuring the singles “The Quiet Things That No One Ever Knows” and “Sic Transit Gloria... Glory Fades”, and a matured sound that became a certified gold album in the US. Derrick Sherman joined the band on guitars and keys in 2005, and the band signed with Interscope Records to release their third album The Devil and God Are Raging Inside Me in 2006. Its hit Jesus became their highest charting single in the United States. In 2009, they put out their fourth album Daisy, their most successful effort to date, reaching number six on the Billboard 200. They are currently working on their fifth studio album, and will play concerts in December 2013 on the east and west coasts where they will perform two albums in their entirety for ticket holders each night.

  • Incredible, Packed With Tearjerking Energy

    by Fabianna B on 4/4/25Rating: 5 out of 5

On March 26th, 2025, Brand New played a filled-to-the-brim show at The Factory in Deep Ellum, Dallas, TX. The energy of the audience was unlike anything I’ve ever experienced. Jesse’s vocals reached every inch of the venue as fans bellowed lyrics from the band’s most beloved songs, while the intimate quarters reverberated the genre-defining songs to your core. Not only are they a must-see for seasoned emo/punk heads but after a 8yr hiatus from scheduled dates, this band is bringing everything they got, and a whole lot more. Some artists take that knee for so long and lose their sound, not Brand New. No matter the price or location, I’ll be sure to attend every single performance this band plays until they officially drop from the music scene.

  • Brand New was excellent

by hfaudiophile on 11/4/17Daily's Place - JacksonvilleRating: 5 out of 5

The cage/fence coming down at the beginning was awkward until the light show. That was a great effect although glad the cage/fence didn’t stay down the entire show. Jesse’s voice seemed a little off but it was still an excellent show. The songs had a fresh vibe live. Soco was like an acoustic encore, only song from YFW. 3 from Deja. Only 2, maybe 3 from Daisy. Then about half of the new album and maybe 1/3 of The Devil and God.

  • AMAZING

    by Mimsy111 on 11/1/17Kings Theatre - BrooklynRating: 5 out of 5

The visuals that they had for this show were truly incredible. Never seen a show like this before. Also the crowd was SO into the show... I always wonder if Brand New shows are that hype in other parts of the country too or if the NY shows are simply the best.

First live show I have seen in years and it was amazing. I have been listening to Brand New since 2001 and have always wanted to see them live.

  • Brand New w Nada Surf

by ClearCorpse on 10/30/17North Charleston Performing Arts Center - North CharlestonRating: 5 out of 5

I've always been a fan of brand new and when I heard that this might be their last album and that they are calling it quits I knew I had to see them live at least once. I picked up the tickets and was surprised to see that nada surf was actually going to open for them, another band that I love a lot. The venue was small ish but it was perfect for the setting that they wanted to create. The music was wonderful, they played everything perfectly. Both bands brought it and I appreciate the passion that they both displayed to us. Especially nada, considering 60% of the crowd was in the lobby buying alcohol and Merch, but they played like the building was packed. I totally bought a nada surf hoodie as a sign of appreciation. Every song was played from the heart from both bands none of it was dialed in

  • Brand New: It Lit Me Up

by VersaceFrolic on 10/29/17Coca-Cola Roxy - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

I’ve been lucky enough to see Brand New seven times in the last seventeen years, and this was hands down the absolute best show I’ve seen so far (and if they throw in the towel next year, possibly ever). The lights, the production, the set design. I just can’t believe this is the same band I saw last year playing songs over eight years old. Great venue with excellent sound, and from my vantage point (right in front of the soundboard), the crowd was polite and excited to be there.

  • Brand New was the best band I’ve ever seen live

by DanielEzekiel on 10/28/17North Charleston Performing Arts Center - North CharlestonRating: 5 out of 5

Brand New put on one of the best shows I’ve ever seen. I wish I could go back to that night and relive it forever.

Great show! Great live performance! Two thumbs up. The theatrics were amazing. They played a great set and finished the show with the best song. Great performance for their last tour. So happy we went!

Dear Brand New, Thank you from the bottom of my heart. It was my fifth time seeing you live (first time was at the Johns Hopkins University Spring Fair in 2005 because my mom worked at JHU and bought me tickets - I was in high school), and y'all are still pushing the boundaries and killing it (I'm 29 now). I will love you forever. <3

Brand New was amazing, as always (except maybe a hiccup in 2007 but we're over that now). I absolutely loved the Hippodrome, it's a beautiful venue and the sound is great. I will always highly recommend seeing Brand New live, it is always a life-affirming night.

  • I've never cried so much at a show

by OliviaHunter on 10/25/17Boch Center - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

I discovered these guys 15 years ago and have seen them several times live. Seeing them in Boston this past week was like nothing I've ever seen. It was like listening to them for the first time all over again. I got so emotional that I cried. Thanks for being my favorite band for the past 15 more years. Here's to another 15.

  • Unforgettable as always

First, the venue. The King’s Theatre is one of the most gorgeous venues I’ve ever been to. Second, Brand New is incredible. Great energy. If this truly is a swan song, there’s no better way to go.

  • Can't say I don't appreciate Brand New

    by Pinkerton512 on 10/18/17Fox Theatre Detroit - DetroitRating: 4 out of 5

I've seen Brand New six times in the past four years, and their show at The Fox Theatre in Detroit, MI was arguably their best performance yet. They started the set with 'Lit Me Up,' the intro. to their latest album, Science Fiction. Aside from the general excitement about seeing Brand New perform, the crowd was immediately enthralled by the visual effects on the large screen separating us from the band. It only increased when the bass dropped during the second verse - "When I grow up, I want to be a heretic." The low booming and buzzing that drowned out the cheers and screams of the crowd had everyone gasping for air. The songs that followed were complimented by stunning prisms and wormhole effects that encompassed the band. When the screen lifted, scenes of space, mountains, and war played above and on the screen behind the band. My favorite visual occurred during 'Same Logic / Teeth,' when close-ups of the band faded in and out on the screen above with this unique spider-web effect. The light show wasn't the only part that made this performance great. While playing a variety of songs, about half of which were off the new album, Jesse performed in typical fashion - improvising melodies and lyrics while screaming at the top of his lungs. However, Vinnie stole the show with his lead guitar solos and jumping around the stage like a mad man without missing a note (I imagine he missed some notes, but the dude clearly enjoyed every second of his performance, so you have to love him). After the band closed with 'Sowing Season,' Jesse came back out alone to play 'Soco Amaretto Lime' as an encore, and that 5 minutes felt as intimate as the time I saw them play Deja Entendu in its entirety (which was also the first time I saw them (2013)). Hearing the crowd sing / scream "You're just jealous 'cause we're young and in love!" was the best way to end the evening. These guys probably won't tour much longer, based on some of the things they've said in appearances over the past three or four years, so take any chance you get to see them! They don't play much of their old stuff, but they're not angsty teens anymore, so don't hold that against them if you're a fan of YFW and DE.

  • BRAND NEW ♥️

  • Brand New > all other shows

    by aduncan89 on 10/18/17Fox Theatre Detroit - DetroitRating: 5 out of 5

As always, Brand New was amazing. My only complaint would be that the show wasn't long enough. After seeing them the last three times they were in Michigan, they FINALLY played SoCo!!

  • Brand New was fantastic

  • Mobo, Front Bottoms and Brand New all in one show!

by EyePatchBear on 11/16/16Bryce Jordan Center - University ParkRating: 5 out of 5

Every single performance was fantastic. Starting off with a small number of songs by Modern Baseball and follwoing that up with the Front Bottoms and their hilarious Livingroom Stage set, both openers were fantastic. Brand New's performance at the end was even better than I could've imagined, and the entire show summed up as pure awesome.
